Grandma Sonnek

Tomorrow is the funeral for my Grandma Sonnek. She was such a nice lady. I don't ever remember her saying anything bad about anyone and never heard a swear word out of her. She was a tough gal, having five sons, she had to be. Her and my grandpa were married for 64 years. He is missing her soooo much right now. You can feel the love they had for each other. He tears up every time he talks about her. It will be hard day for our family tomorrow as we say goodbye, say prayers for us, it's the first time I have been in charge of a family funeral. I told my Grandma I would do this for her and I am sure I will be fine. We got together and met and she knew exactly what she wanted. I think she would be proud! We love you grandma!

8 Years

It is our 8th Anniversary today, I love you Brent! We spent the evening with our neighbors, it was our neighborhood picnic. It's so awesome living on a culdesac, we just set up tables in the circle and everyone hung out in the street and grilled and talked. We met some of the people we hadn't really talked to before and the bigger kids just took Audrey under their wing. She had an absolute blast with them and they included her in everything. Hunter and Grace are siblings and they are the nicest kids ever. They are in 7th and 5th grade and Audrey followed them around the whole time. It took her a while to warm up, but pretty soon she was hanging out on their fake ship and swimming to the island with them in no time, ha. It was so much fun to watch her play. I think we might have found our future babysitters.

Camping

The Wood family went on a camping adventure on Friday night to Sakatah State Park. It was a great first camping experience for Audrey and Sebastian. We enjoyed food cooked by grandpa and a nice breakfast at the Waterville Cafe. It was so much fun to experience camping with Audrey. She loved every minute of it. We got into the tent for bedtime and Audrey kept saying, "Go out, go out." The minute we told her we sleep in there she just layed down and put her arm around dad. She slept great in the tent. It was so hot and buggy, those were the only downfalls, oh yeah, and the band playing until 1 a.m. in town. Atleast they played good music! We are anxious for a camping adventure again in the future, but next time we will go for a whole weekend, it's a lot of work for only one night. I didn't really take any good pictures, but here are some to show you our adventure.

Audrey loved hanging out with Grandma.

Audrey enjoyed some oreo's at home. I asked her to smile with oreo mouth and this is what I got.

Fun times and a funny

We celebrated Grandpa Wood's birthday on Friday night with dinner at Mazatlan and then cake and ice cream back at our house. When Audrey saw grandpa with Sebastian she went right over and plopped herself on his lap too, can we say jealous:) She pretty much loves to be anywhere Seb is when he is being held by Grandpa or Grandma.

Today I worked pretty much all day at a funeral in a church without air conditioning, it was hot! Then we went out to the campground in Mapleton and hung out with my parents and aunt and uncle. It was the perfect night out and I am hoping for some cooler weather.

Brent decided to take Audrey out for pizza today for lunch since I was working, she had to go potty before they left so he took her in to the bathroom and then she loves throwing her diaper away in her room on her own. He sent her into her room and then by the time she came back he was ready to head to lunch. Brent was strapping her into her car seat and her dress slid up a little bit in the seat when he realized he never put a new diaper on her, ha. Thank goodness he noticed and not once they got to the restaurant and was showing off her bare buns to the world.

Sebastian was totally digging Audrey's hair and would not let go, whoops, he pulled a little hard.

Sweet Corn Days

This morning we went down to Estherville, IA, the town I grew up in, to enjoy sweet corn days. I have not been back to Estherville for many years, so it was fun to go back and drive past my house I grew up in and check out some of the neighborhoods. We went to the parade with Natalie, Harvey, Mindy, Jon and Mindy's family. It was a great parade where we actually got to sit in the shade, thank goodness. We enjoyed free corn after the parade, you can tell I was a rookie when I went up to get my corn holding my wallet and I noticed nobody was paying for their corn. They never had sweet corn days when I lived there. Brent hopes to head down again next year, but get their early enough to run in the 10k, Run for the Cob!

After lunch we headed back to Mankato and Audrey took a great nap and then we headed out to the lake for the Asleson family pig roast. It's always great. Audrey loved checking out the lake, playing hide and seek with Grandpa and Grandma, and running around and jumping. She was so tired and sweaty when we left.

This was the funniest thing in the parade, it was hilarious. It was some type of clown car that spun around and the front wheels would come off the ground.

This is when you know the parade is done, the old hearse takes the end!

Audrey enjoying some corn!

Natalie and her cousin John. I wanted to include a great picture I got of Mindy eating corn, but she would never forgive me, maybe some day I will include it on here somehow:)

Audrey Bobo

Last night we decided to take a bike ride to the Trailblazer in Madison Lake for supper. Brent had gone last week with Audrey and his dad and it was a good time. We got to the restaurant around 7 and it was kind of busy. It took forever for us to get a menu and then a half hour had gone by and we hadn't even given a drink order. So, it's now 7:30 and by the time we would even get our order in and the food was done it would be past 8 and getting close to being dark outside. The bike ride takes us about 40 minutes, so I was ready to leave. We decided to head to the park near the restaurant and Audrey was not happy leaving the restaurant. She must have thought, my goodness are you going to feed me or what. It was way past our meal time, so we knew we had to feed Audrey. Brent went to the local gas station and got us some pizza that looked like it had been out since noon and we chilled out in the park and ate supper.

Brent decided he could get going back home much faster without us, so he biked back, picked up the van and drove back to Madison Lake and picked up Audrey and I. I didn't mind so much riding back while it was getting dark, but I didn't want Audrey to be in the trailer without any lights on it. Audrey and I played at the park and I was teaching her to say Audrey Jeanne Wood and she repeated it so many times that when Brent got back to pick us up he asked her what her name was and she kept saying, Audrey Bobo. It cracks me up what she comes up with in her little head.

Bad Mommy

Lately if Audrey gets angry about something she likes to hit our arm, she knows it's wrong, we are working on that. I always tell her do not hit mommy and tell her things like use your gentle touches and it's not nice to hit people. Tonight we were at the park and their were other people around and she was climbing up to the slide and stepping on some railings she shouldn't be and I said, "No Audrey don't stand on the railing." She kept saying back to me, "Mommy, don't hit me, mommy don't hit me." I can only imagine what the other people probably thought of me, bad mommy.

Helpin in Style!

Audrey loves helping me water the plants every night, but last night she needed to get her shades on to help out. This chick is stylish.

This morning we got out some playdoh and Audrey was ripping the playdoh into small pieces and I asked her what she was doing and she said "making soup."
