weekends are too short

The weekends always seem too short. Friday night we had a great time at the MSU hockey game against St. Cloud. Brent won the chuck a puck and won a $50 gift card to Liv Aveda Salon and a $50 gift card to Timberlodge, I am so excited to have a pregnancy massage in a few months.

Saturday we spent the afternoon in the cities at Babies R Us price shopping for all the big ticket items we are going to need eventually, Brent had no idea their were so many things a baby needs. Then we enjoyed supper with Curt and Christine at Pei Wei in Eden Prairie.

Sunday we had my parents over for breakfast and then enjoyed the nice weather with a walk on the Red Jacket Trail. Then of course we went out and splurged and bought this new gadget for our living room. Thank goodness Doug and Bev came over for supper because they basically finished putting together the tv stand for us. Thanks!

Hangin with Lucy

Thursday Heidi and Lucy came to Mankato so we had lunch together and introduced Lucy to Tina and Thor. They didn't seem to mind her too much, Thor was more interested in her car seat:)

Avocado

Here is the babycenter update for week 16:

Your pregnancy: 16 weeks
How your baby's growing:At 4 1/2 inches long (head to bottom) and 3 1/2 ounces, your baby is about the size of an avocado. In the next three weeks, she'll go through a tremendous growth spurt, though, doubling her weight and adding inches to her length. Her lower limbs are much more developed now. Her head is more erect than it has been, and her eyes have moved toward the front of her head. Your baby's ears are close to their final position, too. Some of her more advanced body systems are working, including her circulatory system and urinary tract. Her heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, circulating her total blood volume through her body many times. (By the end of your pregnancy, this will increase to about 190 quarts.) The patterning of her scalp has begun, though her hair isn't recognizable yet. Although closed, her eyes are moving (slowly), and she's even started growing toenails.Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.
How your life's changing:Have people been telling you how wonderful you look? The "glow of pregnancy" is real, thanks to increased blood flow to the skin. You may be enjoying yourself more, too, now that your hormones have stabilized and nausea has eased up. You're also probably less anxious about something happening to your baby (the risk of miscarriage drops dramatically after the 14th week) which likely adds to your overall sense of well-being.Soon you'll experience one of the most wonderful moments of pregnancy — feeling your baby move. While some women notice "quickening" as early as 16 weeks, most don't until about 18 weeks or more. If this is your first baby, don't be too anxious — you may not be aware of your baby's movements until 20 weeks or so. The earliest movements may feel like little flutters, gas bubbles, or even like popcorn popping. Over the following weeks they'll start to feel unmistakably like kicks.

I went to the doctor yesterday for my monthly check up and all is good. My next appt. we get to set up the ultrasound to see the baby and how it looks since I will then be halfway through the pregnancy. I am so excited for that appt. That is the appt. we could find out the sex if we wanted to, but we are going to wait it out until July:)

Birthday weekend

Today we celebrated my 29th birthday with our parents. I am sporting all of my new birthday goods. I got a new coat from Brent, a sewing basket from Brent's parents and our first baby clothes from Mindy, Natalie and Jon. Thanks everyone. I even got some money from both parents to get me a new wardrobe.

We went to the movie Juno today with Brent's parents, it was awesome, we all loved it and totally recommend it. Then we went to Dino's pizza and then back home for cake and ice cream, it was a good weekend.

Ta Da- New Living Room

Tina checking out the new carpet.
The new couch and loveseat and ottoman.
Tina and Thor had to check out the new feature.
We are loving the new look in the living room. It's so much cozier and seems much larger without that sectional couch.
We also carpeted the future nursery. We were going to leave the hardwood, but once we tore up the carpet the floors were not the best. Now we just need to decide on a color for the walls, plum is just not going to work.

Old living room

Some pictures of our old couch and white carpet before we tore the carpet up.

Here are the beautiful hardwood floors that we have, too bad we covered it up with carpet. With a baby on the way we decided it would be nice to have carpet in the living room.

white trash?

We sort of felt like it with our carpet on the deck and our old chair in the yard and it started snowing, looks like it just belonged there. We remodeled our living room and spare bedroom this week with some new carpet and new furniture in the living room.

Yummy

This is what I made for dinner last night, chicken and dumplings, it was awesome. Thanks Heidi for the great recipe. I am trying to come up with some new ideas for cooking.

2nd Trimester

It's officially the first day of my second trimester and boy do I feel energized, not really, but everyone says I will soon. I'll be waiting. Here is the update from babycenter on what is happening with the baby:

Welcome to the second trimester! This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb. Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb. In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces.

My clothes are getting somewhat snug now, so it's time to start searching for some relief. The one thing I really need is a maternity suit for work, anybody know where I can find a great suit?

gym

Brent trying out his Chuck Norris total gym he got for Christmas, he is looking pretty buff lately. He said what he likes most about working out at home is he can dress like a dork.

Tina on Christmas looking at her new bogus ball she got, I guess the cats are just not fans of the catnip balls.
Brent on Christmas morning.

Thor checking out the exercise mat. Our basement has basically become a gym. We have the total gym and Brent's bike set up permanantly in the basement, he is in work out mode.
