12 weeks

Here is the update from BabyCenter.com:

The most dramatic development this week: Reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder.Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby's brain, synapses are forming furiously. His face looks unquestionably human: His eyes have moved from the sides to the front of his head, and his ears are right where they should be. From crown to rump, your baby-to-be is just over two inches long (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce.

I am feeling really good these days, I have not been nauseus for a couple weeks, which is wonderful. I have a gigantic appetite, which I try to control, but sometimes the baby just asks for some m&ms, so I give the baby what it wants. I have still been going to the gym, which is awesome, I am glad I feel good enough to work out on a regular basis. My pants are starting to get tight, which is a horrible feeling, but atleast I know it's normal and it's bound to happen. Soon, I will need to start shopping for some new clothes. That motherhood maternity gift card I got for Christmas will come in handy soon.

Scary week

Last Sat. I went into urgent care with cramps and spotting, which is incredibly scary for a pregnant woman and they could not find the heartbeat. After having an ultrasound and getting a nice little wave from the baby to let us know everything was fine, they sent me home. All is well. I went to the doctor yesterday for a follow up to Sat. and the doctor reassured me that sometimes this just happens to pregnant women, although we immediately think it's bad, it sometimes just happens for no reason. They did a bunch of tests and everything turned out fine, so if anything we got a great picture of Baby W.

Surprise

We celebrated Brent's graduation at Olives restuarant on Friday night and he surprised me with this beautiful ring. He says it was for putting up with him the last two years while he was in school. I was completely surprised, it was great!

I am so glad he is done with school now, he can start cooking for me again, ha. It has been a good weekend just hanging out together and being able to do whatever, not having to worry about when he will study and have some free time.

Congratulations to my cousin Emily and her husband Brett, they just had a baby girl today, Sarah Lynn.

Graduation Celebration!

Tonight we are celebrating Brent's graduation from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a dinner at Olives, the new restaurant in the Hilton in Mankato. We are so excited to get together with our parents and Curt and Christine for a fun night. Brent is so releived that he had his last final yesterday, the worst final of all of them and I am sure he cannot wait to just relax. Congrats Brent! We are all so proud of you for going back to school and earning your accounting degree.

In other news, we have no cable or internet at home, so I have not been able to download any pictures onto the computer lately. We decided to get a new cable company and things are not working out yet. They were supposed to come back yesterday after 5 and fix things and they never showed up, so now they are coming on Sat. morning. I hate to say this, but it is just sucks not having cable for 4 days. At night when we just want to sit down and relax and watch some t.v. we can't. I cannot wait for this to get fixed. Brent relied on video games last night while I wrapped Christmas presents.

Kumquat

That's right, the baby is the size of a kumquat this week, I have no idea what that is even, so doesn't help me a lot, I know last week the baby was the size of a grape, so bigger than that of course. I get a weekly update from babycenter.com that informs me of all the new changes. Every week their are tons of new happenings. This week the baby has all of it's vital organs and is now just ready to grow and grow and grow. It's crazy to think that something that is a little over an inch long has a heart, lungs, brain, fingers, toes, eye lashes, and now is getting fingernails this week. Also they said the baby is kicking like crazy, can you imagine a little inch long baby kicking, ahhhhh. How exciting, now just keep growing baby.

Christmas fun

This Saturday I helped out at an event in St. Clair called Shopping with Mrs. Claus. My Women of Today group puts it on every December, it's a time for kids to come and shop without their parents and buy gifts for them and their siblings, it's tons of fun and I couldn't resist buying this care bear for myself, Tina and Thor were very interested in it.

My mom and I spent Sunday baking Christmas goodies, it is always a good time. We baked a lot. Cut outs, peppermint bark, and peanut butter cups. yummers.

This is my dad staying out of our way.

Graduation approaching

Brent had his last class today, now it's just finals week next week. I am sure this weekend will be full of studying. He had his last group presentation and his group won for best presentation in the class. I think it helped that his boss from Taylor Corp. was asked to be a judge. I guess sometimes it is all about who you know. I know that Brent is so ready to be done with school, it's been a long 2 years for him. I cannot wait to be able to hang out with him any night of the week and eat supper together every night. Enough of these group meetings and night classes and homework. We can actually go to a movie during the week again, ahhhhhh. I am so proud of you Brent, only one week to go!

We're having a baby!

We are so excited that we are having a baby, our due date is July 8. We have known for a month now and it was so hard to keep this secret for so long, I am proud that we could do it. We had our first doctor appt. last Friday and everything looks good , we got to see the heartbeat, which was amazing. I think it made it much more real to Brent and myself. Although, I have been nauseus and feeling quite tired. But I have been fortunate have not been sick. It has been a great weekend getting to tell family and friends.
I am sure I will keep everyone updated on the blog about the baby.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We are heading on our way up to New Hope for the day to Brent's grandparents house, should be a nice day of eating and hanging out:) It's been one crazy week at work for me and for Brent, so it's nice to have this one day off before the even crazier weekend ahead.

Hope everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving!

Tina's obsession

Lately whenever we even start heading into the direction of the bathroom, Tina beats us there and is in the sink whining, she is obsessed with the water in the sink. She loves drinking from it and putting her paws under the running water. I should have never let her try it.

I was having some issues with my camera lighting all day long, I think it's time for a new camera. This one will have to do for a while. I just wanted to say how much fun we had this weekend at the wedding, it was wonderful. I am so happy to have been a part of the big day. I am also so glad to have tomorrow off yet, a day to just relax before going back to work.

Christine, Curt and Claire

Welcome to the family Christine- This is Brent posting his recap of the wedding.

This weekend was Curt and Christine’s wedding. The event ran very smoothly once the ground rules were set by the teachers of the group. I personally had a great time the entire day. I started the day out shopping with Curt to pick up some items for later in the day. Then it was off to the church for pictures. This was a lot of fun since basically all that it consisted of was hanging out with the greatest group of friends and family ever assembled (I may be slightly biased on this). The ceremony went great (once the musicians showed)(I probably should have known that the orchestra folk would show last minute being that I use to roll with that crazy crowd). Then it was off to the reception. The meal was delicious. The love story was wonderful and the decorations were quite beautiful. All of the planning definitely showed (nice job Curt). The toasts were quite possibly some of the best in wedding history. Carolyn went with the very touching and heart warming story of how these two bring out the best in one another, while I went with a more comical story of mud bogging in the lebaron. It is thought by some that I became a bit emotional and actually may have cried a bit toward the end of my toast. I would like to set the record straight on this matter. What had actually happened is that while giving my toast, the wait staff removed the remains of my dinner before I had a chance to do anything about it. That really upset me and we will just leave it at that. Some highlights from the dance include Trent’s electric slide tutorial (I think that we may have another teacher in the makings) and watching Curt attempt the "Soulja Boy". It was a great day. Welcome to the family Mrs. Wood. Congratulations to you both.

Oxygen bar

Shopping was a success today for my mom and I. We covered a lot of ground, we picked up Doug and Brent's tuxes first thing at Southdale mall and then onto the MOA. I think we can both say the favorite part of the day was the oxygen bar. We stopped in at this place and two ladies were just finishing up and they talked us into it, something we would have never done otherwise. It was awesome!!! A 15 minute chair massage for me while hooked up to lavendar oxygen and listening to soothing music. Then a 5 minute trip to the oxygen bar with an energy drink and a head massage while hooked up to Sex on the Beach oxygen, I know crazy day at the mall eh.

We will definately be making the oxygen bar part of our yearly tradition.

Sorry, no pictures, who would have thought we needed our camera while shopping.

Christmas shopping

That's right, it's November, time to think about Christmas shopping. Tomorrow my mom and I are making our annual trek to the Mall of America to do some Christmas shopping, it's tons of fun to spend the day together and shop. Although my mom does not usually like shopping much, we have a blast. So, if any of you out there have any good ideas for presents, let me know.

Nice weekend off

Brent showing off his new winter jacket. Friday was my day off of work and Brent took the afternoon off, so it was nice to hang out for the afternoon with no homework. Friday night Curt and Christine came to get some last minute wedding details finalized, so we joined the family for dinner at the Olive Garden. The wedding is only a week away, it's going to be so much fun!

Saturday I went with my mom to see my grandma, she is really liking the assisted living facility she moved into, which makes us happy. Sat. night Brent and I went to the American Gangster, great movie, we recommend it.

It was a great weekend off of work and now this week I just work Mon-Wed. and then I am using some vacation days, so I have 5 days off. I have to use them or lose them, so it seemed like a perfect time to use them around the big wedding.

Curt becomes a man

This is Brent posting for the first time-a posting virgin (Do you really think Shanna would have started with a headline like that):

Curt’s Bach Party

Saturday, I (Brent) spent the day and evening out for Curt’s bachelor party. Following are the events of the day (note that these events are in no way embellished upon as told by Brent)
-1:50 pm – Trent and myself stop by Chaska Wine and Spirits and ask the gentleman behind the counter for 2 cases of his finest spirits.

- 2 pm – We arrive at Curt’s and prepare for golf.

- 2: 40 pm – We arrive at the Chaska par 30 course. This is actually about 4 blocks from Curt’s place but due to some road construction and poor navigational skills we drove about 10 miles to get there.

- 3 pm – split into two 3 man teams for the golf tournament. Team Blue was made up of Curt, Nate, and me while Team Long Balls consisted of Trent, Dad (Doug), and Rob. The Long Balls ended up winning by one stroke thanks in large part to an amazing 284 yard drive by non other then Trent (Big Drive) Weingartz.

- 5:30 pm – After a quick stop at Curt’s we were off to downtown Minneapolis for dinner and entertainment. We started off at the Rock Bottom Brewery for dinner.

- 6:02 pm – Nate (Foot in Mouth) Kachelmyer told us a story which involved him receiving the evil eye from a woman in an air port coffee shop line. This story should be sold to any one of the comics at ACME. They were in need of some new material.

- 8 pm – After a delicious dinner and a taste of what the brewery had to offer for brew we headed over to Game Works. Joe (Ice Man) Tischler left everyone in the dust in the NASCAR game. I was a force to be reckoned with in G Ball (Skeet ball). We were able to collect enough tickets to purchase Curt a beautiful princess tiara.

10 pm – Everyone headed over to the ACME comedy club for the 10:30 show. I am quite sure that we had several of our own crew that could have outperformed the comedians.

10:25 pm – Doug (Best Bun’s) Wood takes first prize in a butt competition put on by the bachelorette party sitting in front of us at the club. He can be seen competing in the Best of the U.S. competition later this year. I pulled out the victory in the sexiest pose competition with the Zoolander “blue steel” pose. The ladies were in need of many cold beverages to cool down after this heavy dose of the Wood men’s sexiness. We were lucky to make it out in one piece.

1:30 am – Trent, Curt, and I take Josh (Parked in a Rough Neighborhood) Wieland to his vehicle. There was a lot of great people watching on this short yet entertaining trek through downtown Minneapolis.

This was certainly a great bach party I must say. I know that I had a great time and sure hope that everyone else did also. Congratulations Curt, you are now a man. Now go put on your princess tiara.

Thanks for coming everyone. Trent sorry you didn’t get to utilize your change of pants:)

Babies, Babies, Babies

It was a weekend full of babies. Friday I got to meet Cole, he is so cute, he pretty much slept the whole time I was there. He is a very good baby from what I hear. Then Friday night I got to watch Natalie while Mindy and Jon went to her cousins rehearsal dinner. She also slept the whole time. So, Saturday we got to hang out with Natalie while she was awake, she is so much fun. Heidi and I did a ton of shopping on Saturday also, I can shop anytime.

I have not seen Brent much this weekend, with the haunted house on Friday night and then Saturday night was his brother's bachelor party, they had a good time. He got home about 3am. Only three weeks until the wedding!

Snowboarding

Mindy is right, no more biking for the season, but the snowboarding season is just beginning. Brent and I bought snowboards last winter, so we are no experts, but it's fun trying.

No more biking

This time of year usually means no more biking until spring, I am sad. We went on lots of fun rides this past season, especially training for the triathlon. I did a lot of biking by myself since Brent was usually studying. I was lucky not to get any flats too far from home, I still have not changed one by myself. Someday, I will probably run into this problem. I am excited for Brent to be graduated from college and next year we can ride together all the time, that is when he is not riding with the guys. This picture was taken in Colorado last summer when we went mountain biking at Winter Park.

Rubik's Cube

Brent's new obsession, the Rubik's Cube. We were at the store last night and he had to have one. It's really distracting him from his studying. So, if he does not pass this semester everyone will know why, ha.

New Bedroom Look

I had the day off today, so I decided to change the bedroom look, I was sick of the white walls. It's now a nice green color. You can see a close up of the new curtains. Now we just need the new trim and it will be a totally new room.
